Whether you’re standing for a position or just voting, the MDXSU Elections have a significant impact on your student life and the lives of future students so it’s important to know what they’re about.
The MDXSU Elections are when Middlesex students vote on who will lead their Students’ Union for the coming year – representing and advocating for changes that matter to you.
Nominations open Monday 17th February and close on Friday 28th March.
Student Officers
Salary: £27k+
Contract: One year (up to 2 years, if re-elected)
Start Date: July 2025
Hours: Full-time (35 hours per week)
Location: Middlesex University Hendon London
Eligibility: Any current Middlesex University London student. You can fulfil the role as a graduate or placement year.
Do you want to lead an organisation with over 11,000 members, impact student lives, and gain invaluable leadership experience?
Become part of the Student Officer team! Nominations are now open for Student Officer roles that provide the opportunity to have an important say in the university’s decisions while making sure the students' voices are heard in all the university does.
These roles start in June and are a one-year contract, with a possibility of re-election for a second year.
MDXSU President
The President represents Student Members to the University and external audiences at all levels, leads policymaking and campaigns, and maintains relationships between students, the Trustee Board, and the University Board of Governors.

Education Officer
The Education Officer advocates for students on academic matters, supports Student Voice Leaders, and enhances the learning experience by gathering feedback and collaborating with the University.

Activities Officer
The Activities Officer enhances student community life by organizing extracurricular activities, supporting Student Group Leaders, and promoting engagement and personal development outside the classroom.

Part-Time Voluntary Job
If you want to get involved but can’t commit full-time, why not nominate yourself for a part-time position? These positions work alongside full-time officers and require less hours each week or term, allowing you to develop valuable skills while being part of the change at MDX.
Student Trustee
Term: 1 or 2 years, 1st July 2025 - 30th June 2026/27
Hours: Part-time (Volunteer, approximately 30hrs a year)
Location: Middlesex University London, Hendon
Available Positions: 2 roles for 1 year term, 2 roles for 2-year term
Eligibility: Any current Middlesex University London student. You can fulfil the role as a graduate or placement year.
Student Trustees sit on MDXSU’s Trustee Board and help in setting our long-term direction, overseeing our work and making sure we are well run. Student Trustees are elected in the same way as our Student Officers, but the role is a part-time volunteer role, where you'll be expected to attend a range of meetings across the year around your studies.
This role is perfect for students who want to use their existing knowledge or gain new skills in business and strategy in a real-life environment.

Any registered MDX student is eligible to stand for a position. No prior experience with the university or Students’ Union is necessary. MDXSU will provide all the support and training for successful candidates.
