Goodbye From your Student Officers 2023/2024
Our term has come to an end. As the student officers of Middlesex University's Students' Union, we want to say official goodbye and we would like to reflect on our time in these roles. We had an amazing time serving as student officers even though this journey has been incredibly challenging, but also filled with accomplishments and valuable lessons. Thank you for voting for us and letting us experience the thrill and honour of being your student officers.
From the beginning, our focus has been on bettering your student experience and ensuring that your time at Middlesex University is both fulfilling and memorable. This academic year, we have worked tirelessly to address a multitude of issues and implement initiatives aimed at enhancing inclusivity, well-being, and academic support.
Winter Graduation has been a significant undertaking, and alongside our dedicated team and university staff, we hope the next team of student officers can help us finish this and make Winter Graduation happen for our postgraduate students.
Mental health awareness and support were central to our mission, with campaigns and workshops aimed at promoting well-being and providing resources for those in need. We successfully planned and executed events such as the Movember campaign which has allowed us to engage with students on crucial issues and spread awareness.
Our commitment to fostering a sense of community extended beyond the main campus, with initiatives aimed at strengthening connections with students at the StoneX campus. Through regular meetings and dedicated outreach efforts, we were on a mission to make all students feel valued and included in the Middlesex University community.
Financial accessibility was a priority of Sagar, the MDXSU President, for two years. Ongoing discussions with university stakeholders are leading to tangible results, including expanded food options on campus and the implementation of free food options for students facing financial hardship.
And lastly, in our efforts to support international students, we have collaborated on proposals for tuition instalment plans and facilitated easy access to bursaries and scholarships. Cultural events and initiatives have been organised to celebrate diversity and create a welcoming environment for students from all backgrounds.
One last time, we want to express our deepest gratitude to the entire Middlesex University community. Without your support, none of our accomplishments would have been possible and we hope our efforts will have a lasting and positive impact on student life.
As we pass the torch to Aivin, Mihita and Mohit, we encourage them to continue building on the foundation we and past generations of student officers have laid. Leadership is a constant journey of growth, learning and adaptability. And always remember that the ultimate goal is to serve and empower fellow students.
Thank you for an incredible year. We will cherish the memories, the friendships, and the lessons learned.
