Periods are bloody expensive - period.
The average person spends approximately £6 per 28-day cycle on sanitary products - that's more than £77 per year.
The arbitrary way in which businesses profit from periods and add to the living costs of people who menstruate is unfair and sexist.
Today marked the launch of one of my completed manifesto pledges - the #FreePeriods campaign.
When I ran in the MDXSU elections back in March 2016, I spoke to students across campus, telling them that I would work hard to provide students at Middlesex with free sanitary products - and I am very excited to tell you that now Middlesex Students' Union does exactly that!
Today, Tuesday 6th December, we spent the day giving away free sanitary products in Christmas Crackers and small gift boxes to students from across campus.
The crackers and gifts contain Natracare sanitary products and are the same items that you can now come and get from the MDXSU Welcome Desk.

From today, you will be able to pick up a free box of pads or tampons* every Tuesday from the MDXSU Welcome Desk downstairs in MDX House.
As well as offering free sanitary products on Tuesdays, you will also be able to purchase the organic Natracare pads and tampons for cost price - TAX-FREE - every other day of the week (excluding weekends and bank holidays, when the Welcome Desk is closed!).
If you have any questions about my campaign, or would like to know more you can email me at e.dragomirova@mdx.ac.uk
