The shortlist has been announced for the second ever MDXSU Teaching Awards.

The student led Teaching Awards were established in 2014 in order to recognise and reward the fantastic staff at Middlesex University.

Over 700 nominations were received this year, with Middlesex students nominating staff in five award categories: Most Empowering Teacher, Best Feedback, Most Innovative Teaching, Best Support Staff, and Most Inspiring Teacher.

Out of the 747 nominations, a panel of students and MDXSU elected officers narrowed the nominees down to a shortlist of 26. The panel judged the nominees against the criteria set out on the nominations form for each award, and also looked at the accompanying information and evidence given by students.

As well as the five core awards, the student panel felt that this year, a sixth, special award was required for Outstanding Contribution by a particular member of Middlesex staff, which will be awarded on the night.

MDXSU would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who took the time to nominate their teachers and support staff for the awards. Sometimes it’s hard to find the time or words to express your appreciation, so the Teaching Awards are a great opportunity to do just that.

Congratulations to all the staff who received nominations, whether you reached the final shortlist or not. The number of nominations received is testament to the enthusiasm, compassion and dedication demonstrated by so many of the staff at Middlesex University, and shows just what an impact those qualities have on your students.
