Hi everyone,
With January Welcome just around the corner, I’m excited to share what I’ve been working on and the progress we’ve made together. My name is Mohit Vyasam, and I’m proud to be your Activities Officer at Middlesex Students’ Union.
Student engagement is at an all-time high, with more of you knowing who your officers are and what we do. As part of my manifesto, I’ve hosted inclusive events from board game nights to club nights with the intention to create a welcoming community for everyone.
On the employability front, I along with Aivin Saji (MDXSU President), are organising a Part-Time Employability Fair in the next two months to bring internal and external employers to campus. We’re also working closely with MDX Works to increase job opportunities for students, with a long-term goal of replacing most campus roles with students – both part time roles for current students and roles for MDX graduates.
I’ve met twice with our local MP to discuss employability programs for MDX students, resulting in promises for shadowing opportunities and connections to external employers. Additionally, I’m working on creating more volunteering opportunities with professionals to help you build your skills and CVs.
A special thanks to our Vice-Chancellor, Professor Shân Wareing, for meeting with us regularly to hear the student voice and support our ideas. Her encouragement has been instrumental in turning our plans into reality.
Finally, alongside with my other sabbs, we successfully extended the basketball court lights until midnight, giving students more time to stay active.
I’m looking forward to meeting more of you and hearing how I can help make your student life even more. If there’s anything I can do to support you, please don’t hesitate to reach out!
