The results of the WhatUni Student Choice Awards have been announced, giving Middlesex University and MDXSU plenty to celebrate.
Middlesex Students' Union jumped 62 places from last year's results, and was placed 28th in the country out of 113 Students' Unions nationwide. The results were equally exciting for Middlesex University as a whole, which ranked 21st in the University of the Year category, beating off competition from all neighbouring universities to top this category within London.
The success continued in other categories also, with Middlesex placed at 7th for university facilities, jumping 88 places from last year, and ranking 9th for best student support – both results higher than any other London institution.
Simon Emmett, Managing Director of Whatuni.com, commented on Middlesex's achievement, saying, “Middlesex University performed strongly in the Student Support and Uni facilities categories, which reflects a commitment from the university to improve the resources available to students, and the overall student experience. It is also noteworthy that no other London university was even shortlisted in either category.”
The WhatUni awards are based entirely on student feedback, meaning the impressive results are great news for Middlesex, demonstrating that MDX students are largely pleased with their university experience. Nearly 23,000 students reviewed their universities over the past twelve months, with any university which received over 100 reviews qualifying for an award.
Aman Siddiqi, elected President of MDXSU, said, "MDXSU is delighted and proud to see the improvements that our university has made to the student experience being recognised, and is delighted that as a university we are now sat at the top table for student experience. We look forward to continuing our strong partnership as we work together to make the experience even better in the future."
Middlesex University Vice-Chancellor Professor Michael Driscoll said: "These results demonstrate both our continuing commitment to the development of Middlesex and our growing reputation and impact across teaching, research and student success. It is particularly pleasing that our ranking in the Whatuni guide comes from our students, as they are at the heart of everything we do."
