We’ve now shortlisted your nominated candidates and we are proud to announce the shortlists for the different awards in the Student Led Teaching Awards. Read on to see who’s been nominated!
This award recognises an outstanding member of academic staff who has had a positive impact on the learning and student experience. More specifically, on incredible assignment feedback, on a positive teaching style and originality, on having an impact on the learning experience of students and having a student-centred approach to teaching. There is one award per faculty for Academic Staff Member of the Year.

This award recognises a member of non-teaching staff who has had a positive impact on the student experience and on the MDX community. This includes those who work in administration across Student Support, Library, Catering, MDX Works, and any non-teaching role within the University. Consideration has been given to how they affected the student experience, how they provided support and encouragement to students, and how friendly and approachable they were.

This award recognises a course or programme whose staff work collectively to provide an outstanding student experience for the students on the course or programme. Consideration was specifically given to additional activities, opportunities and skills development, employability, effective use of student feedback, and student engagement with curriculum design or teaching.

This award recognises a department whose staff work collectively to provide an outstanding student experience for those studying within the Department. Consideration has been given for those conducting additional activities, opportunities and skills development, employability, activities that promote a community of staff and students, and effective use and promotion of student voice.

This award recognises a postgraduate research supervisor who has played a crucial part in postgraduate students’ learning, development and overall experience. Consideration was given for expertise in their subject area, provision of student support and encouragement, and for assistance with planning, processes, and research.

This award recognises the work of an individual staff member who has demonstrated an outstanding commitment to the employability, personal, and professional development of students. Consideration has been given to those who provided encouragement to develop students’ employability skills, career advice, signposting support, and proactive searches and promotion for employment opportunities.

This award recognises a member of staff who continuously works hard to ensure that the curriculum and their teaching is inclusive and accessible for all students. Consideration was given to those who gave a range of resources, provided information in a range of format, used accessible language and inclusive teaching practices, and built equality and diversity teaching into the curriculum.

This award recognises a member of academic staff who consistently gives high quality feedback in relation to students’ work. Consideration has been given to clear and easy to understand feedback, use of constructive comments with areas for improvement, timely feedback and optional follow-ups and drop-ins after feedback has been received.

This award recognises a member of staff, including personal tutors, who work hard to support students and help promote positive mental wellbeing and care. Consideration was given to regular check-ins with students, appropriate signposting, supporting students during assessment, and promotion of positive mental health practices.

This award recognises a member of staff who is known for doing it different and finds new and innovative ways of teaching and supporting students. We considered innovative and creative teaching practices, use of online and unique resources, and creative methods of assessment and monitoring progress.

This award recognises a member of staff who acts as a champion for students and their voices. Consideration has been given to the effective use of student feedback, promotion of student voice and student voice leaders, student involvement and engagement with curriculum design and delivery, and empowering students to engage in additional opportunities.
