At MDXSU, we're proud of the work we do to support students at Middlesex University, and we want to continue doing so.  

It's the job of Students' Unions to represent the opinions and views of students at their universities. SUs also provide lots of opportunities for students to develop their skills and enjoy their time at uni, from organising parties and workshops, to overseeing your societies, student media and advice services.

As your Students' Union, we help turn your ideas into action through a community of hundreds of Student Voice Leaders; we organise a Freshers' Week which lasts for a month and helps you settle into uni life; we pay all of our student employees and interns the London Living Wage; we support almost 70 societies, financially and otherwise; and we lead campaigns on issues you care about, from keeping Wednesday afternoons free from lessons, to successfully lobbying Barnet Council to resettle 50 Syrian refugees.

But why are we telling you this?

As you might have read in Sayed's latest blog entry, earlier this month the government published the Higher Education Green Paper on their plans for universities.

As well as proposing changes to your learning, your fees and your experience as a student, the proposals could mean great changes for Students' Unions across the country too, limiting the work we can do and grouping students' union along with the trade union bill - despite us having clear differences as a charity. We want to show the government that Students' Unions play a valuable role and are here to say; that's why we're taking part in the NUS #loveSUs day on Monday 23rd November.

We love the work you do as students in keeping us accountable, whether as Student Trustees, Student Voice Leaders or by voting in our elections. We love the work you do in our societies, our fundraising groups, our Liberation Assemblies and as part of our student media. And we love working somewhere where we can support you to do these things!
